The interwar clay and galvanised plumbing under these hillside streets has its own habits, and these are the questions those ageing materials tend to raise.
Why do the drains block so often in these older streets?
Almost every home was drained with clay and earthenware in the 1930s and 40s, and roots drawn from the mature gardens and the creekside bushland push into the aged joints, the leading cause of blockages here.
Can an old clay sewer be fixed without digging up the yard?
Often, yes. A camera inspection locates the damage, and many cracked or offset joints can be relined from within the pipe, so a ninety-year-old drain is renewed with little more than an access point at each end.
My water has rusty stains and weak pressure. Why?

How quickly can you get to an emergency?

What should I do first in a plumbing emergency?
Make the scene safe. Turn the water off at the meter for a burst, and for a gas smell, leave the property and call from outside, then ring us and we guide you from there.
